Open-source game technology

Stories you can play.
Built in the open.

We’re Vibe Continuum. We’re exploring a new kind of game engine called Reactive Cinematics, where every scene is film and every choice is yours. Our tools are open source, and we’re building them alongside the players, creators and developers who want to help shape what comes next.

A new kind of game engine

Reactive Cinematics: film you can play.

Film is the most accessible and emotional way to tell a story, and games let you take part in one. Reactive Cinematics sit between the two. They’re video-native games where choices, timing and memory change what happens next, so every playthrough can be different. It’s a genuinely new engine concept, and we’re figuring it out in public.

Linear storytelling

Powerful and accessible, but the audience only watches.

Clips become playable worlds

Scenes connect into a graph of choices, routes, challenges and outcomes that responds to the player. These can be stories, episodic series or open worlds that keep growing.

Games

Systems-first play

Deep interaction, built on real-time simulation of the whole world.

Choices and routes

Branching paths, traversal, dialogue and multiple endings, all authored as a playable graph.

Timing and challenge

Input windows, QTEs and combat beats that turn watching into playing, with each result following instantly.

State and memory

The story remembers what you did, from items you’re carrying to who you trusted.

Cinematic fidelity

Scenes don’t have to render in real time, so every frame can look the way it was meant to.

Not a real-time simulation engine. Reactive Cinematics are graph-native, which suits interactive films, story-driven and cinematic action games, visual novels and anime-style episodes. They can also sit alongside traditional engines for cutscenes, dialogue and authored set pieces.

Create. Play. Share.

Three projects carry a Reactive Cinematic from a creator’s first idea to its audience.

Where players find them, collaborators extend them and creators grow an audience.

Underneath, Fuse composes modular web apps into one product, and QuerySpace lets small teams scale without big infrastructure bills. Both are useful well beyond our own stack.

What we’re building

All five are in active development, and four are MIT-licensed open source.

Studio

Make a game the way you edit a video.

Studio is a no-code editor built around the timeline. Lay out your scenes, then place action windows, triggers and branching game flows exactly where they happen in the story. If you can cut a video, you can build a Reactive Cinematic.

Make it alone, with a few friends or with a full studio team. Release in episodes and expansions, so your community is playing within hours instead of waiting years for one big launch.

  • Drop action windows, QTEs and triggers straight onto the timeline
  • Connect visual blocks to build game flows, success paths and fail states
  • Collaborate from solo creator to studio, with every contribution credited
  • Tell stories in series and grow worlds with expansions
  • Free, open source and local, with your own choice of AI providers

Engine

Reactive Cinematics, native to the browser.

The open runtime for Reactive Cinematics. Players watch, hit a timed choice or action, and the result plays instantly. One executor runs single stories, episodic series and persistent open worlds that keep growing with expansions.

  • Built so a choice never waits on a loading spinner
  • Streams media as it’s needed, so play starts right away
  • WebCodecs and WebGPU video, right in the browser
  • An open spec, so any compatible tool can target it, not just Studio

UpNext

Play a story. Build a world together.

The home for Reactive Cinematics and the community around them. One creator builds a world, others expand it with new episodes and encounters, and players enjoy the combined story. Everyone’s authorship stays visible, and play supports the people who made it.

  • Follow creators and games for free, and get notified about new episodes
  • Owners decide who can contribute to their world, with clear credit
  • Private playtests with feedback on exact builds

Fuse

One product. Modular apps. Parallel by design.

Fuse connects independently owned web apps and services into one seamless product. Each module owns its own UI, state, stack and deployment, which gives human developers and AI coding agents focused room to build in parallel.

  • Mix frameworks across modules
  • Typed contracts instead of a shared tangle
  • Shared routing, lifecycle and browser history

QuerySpace

A database accelerator for .NET.

Scale up without the usual infrastructure costs. QuerySpace keeps complete entities in your application’s memory and answers repeat reads locally, so your database only handles writes and the queries that truly need it. Growing means adding app servers or regions, not paying for ever-bigger database tiers.

  • Repeat reads served from memory, with zero database round trips
  • More than a cache, because the indexes live in memory alongside the data
  • Scale sideways with one accelerator per node, from a single server to regions and the edge
  • Your database stays the single source of truth

Built with the community, not just for it

Reactive Cinematics are new territory. The best version of them will come from many people experimenting together, and there’s a place for you whatever you bring.

For players

Play early, shape the games

Discover new Reactive Cinematics, follow the creators and worlds you love, and join playtests on UpNext. Your feedback steers what gets built next.

For creators

Make something new

Studio is free, open source and runs on your own machine. Build a world, let other creators expand it, and share in what it becomes.

For developers
